Georgia: Ana’s School (The Path to Inclusion)

Inclusive education is compulsory across public schools in Georgia. By law, schools cannot refuse to enrol children with special needs or disabilities. Yet, many schools are struggling to provide the services required to make inclusive education work.

We follow the life of Ana, a little girl with special needs and her school’s efforts to provide her the education and social skills she needs to develop to navigate the world she lives in. She receives additional support from a pilot project that introduces school social workers to help inclusive education in schools.

But once the project is over, Ana may lose some of the services she requires, unless more is done by the Georgian government to provide all the services and support required to streamline inclusive education.
